How To Create A Facebook Business Page (Step by Step)

A Facebook Business Page is a powerful way to advertise your products/services. It is wise to separate your personal account with your business account. This will avoid confusion with your target audience and a business account will have tools designed to help you grow your business as well as run ads.

With a Facebook business page, you get a free platform to share content, engage with your audience and connect with other people.

Setting up a Facebook business page is straightforward and only takes a few minutes. However, there are a few things you need to choose right, to make sure that you set up your page for success.

N.B: In order to create a Facebook business page you need to have a Facebook personal account. Your personal account or details are not visible on the business page.

Here is a step by step on how to create a Facebook Business Page

1. Log in to your personal account, and from the left hand side select "pages"

Click on "create new page"

3. Give your page a name.

Make sure to choose a business name that clearly defines what your business has to offer. Also, avoid using a business name that is already in use.

Your business category will determine the kind of visibility your page will have. Make sure you choose the right category that matches your  business. To get suggestions, start typing in words related to your business. The first category you choose, will appear publicly under your page name.

4. Write Your Page Description

This information is important because it gives your visitors an idea of what your business is about.

  • The image will be automatically cropped by Facebook to a circular shape when viewed in the user’s timeline so make sure that there is enough space around it.
  • For better results, you can upload an image that is 360×360 or 520×520 pixels.
  • Have a photo that represents your business. Using a logo is a good idea
  • The minimum size is 400×150 pixels for a cover photo but for best results use an image that is at least 820×312.

You can join groups using your page, so that you can be sharing and interacting with group members.

Creating a Facebook Business Page is only the first step to using Facebook marketing for your business. You will need to be active on Facebook in order to market your page and grow an audience.

For example, you will not only want to be consistent in posting on your page, but you will also want to actively participate in relevant groups where your target audience is likely spending their time.
