But, it is always not that simple. Most people only do a boost and while this is a great advertising move, it will only bring in views and likes ( which is not a bad thing if this is what your looking for )
If your aim is to get more than likes and views, probably generate qualified leads, drive traffic to your website or generate more sales, then you need to change the way you create your ads.
Mistake 1 that many make is simply clicking on the "boost" option. There is another way of creating Facebook Ads that comprises of detailed targeting. ( I always insist on the importance of knowing your target audience. It is very helpful in every form of advertising. If you did not read the post, read it here.)
What you need to do is create an account with Facebook Business Manager. Here, you will be able to create better targeted Ads. You can read a step by step on how to do this here.
Now let us look at what components make a Facebook Ad great and sell more.
1. Use Facebook's Targeting feature to know your audience, then focus on writing Ads directed to them
Your targeted customers will buy from you if you actually speak to them. Often when running Ads, we create Ads for US rather than for the CLIENT.
As a business, your focus should be about how your products/services can help your clients solve their needs.
Don't be like the annoying date who only speaks about themselves.
Facebook has a wonderful targeting tool that actually shows you where you have targeted your audience well.
You get to choose them based on:
- Custom audiences – allows you to target existing customers or leads
- Location – allows you to target by location (city, state, country)
- Gender – allows you to target by gender (male or female)
- Interests – allows you to target by interest (such as coaching, entrepreneurship, fashion, food)

2. Use images
Visuals work very well when it comes to Facebook Ads. Make sure that your copy text goes hand in hand with an image. If you struggle in making images, you can use a Free site such as canva.
3. Use a Call To Action (CTA).
A Call to Action nudges your audience to take an action once they see your Ad. Make sure that you focus on a specific CTA and make sure that it is clear. Otherwise, your Ad will reach the right people, but they will have no idea what to do after seeing the Ad.
A CTA can be as simple as :Call Now, Shop Now, Learn More or Send Message.
I also came across Bob Stone's Gem: The 7-Step Formula for Writing Copy That Sells, and here is what he advices when it comes to writing Ads that sell:
1. Begin with your strongest benefit
"Join the Go Digital With Sophia Karanja digital marketing training, and join the I've made money online club.”
2. Explain more on your benefit
"A training that will open your creativity head, forever changing the way you look marketing and get a new perspective and understanding of the benefits the online space has for your business”
3. Explain in detail what the client will get
"During the training, you will get to know about the different digital marketing channels and how they will help you market and grow your brand. If you are looking to start your business, you will be up and running in less than a week"
4. Back up your statement with proof
"Don't take our word for it, James says we are the best in what we do. He now knows how to create content that talks to his audience”
5. Say what the client will lose if they don't act
"But if you choose not to join, rest assured you'll go on marketing, advertising, and getting frustrated like you always have. Nothing will change. And wouldn’t that be unfortunate?”
6. Sum up the most important benefit
"Because our world is changing and we are leaning more and more to digital marketing, your business needs to take action and have an online presence. ”
7. Add in your Call To Action
"Join us . Reserve your spot by calling 0716352252 today.”
