Yesterday I wrote a blog on how to write Facebook Ads that sell, and the blog post has done really well. If you haven't, read it here.
One common comment I have seen is that quite a number of people get their Ads rejected.
This is not uncommon, which is why it is very important to read Facebook's Advertisement Policy which highlights what is acceptable and what is not.
Here are reasons why your Ad is rejected.
1. Offering Deceptive discounts, promises or results
When you use clickbait headlines to your Ads, Facebook will not let you run that type of Ad. Not to mention, when you use clickbait, you will also tarnish your brand online.
Examples of clickbait headiness are "how to lose weight in 3 days" "do this to earn $1000 per day" .
Misinformation will lead to your Ad been automatically rejected.

2. Promoting Adult products or services
If you are in the business of selling adult products/services, chances are that it is difficult to promote your business via Facebook Ads. This is either because you did not target the right age (18+) or your words/image on your Ad was promoting "sexual pleasure".
Those dealing with contraception have to be careful while targeting and choose the wording and images used very carefully. Your images should not show any nudity or people in sexually suggestive positions.

3. Your Ad Destination Pay close attention to where your links lead people who click on them. Any websites or landing pages that have deceptive content or are difficult for the user to navigate away will get your Ads rejected. 4. Improper Grammar Yes, that's right. You need to be professional in how you write your Ads. Make sure you use full sentences and avoid using profanity. The use of punctuation and numbers should be used correctly. Examples Profane language, including profanity that is partially obscured by asterisks or symbols “♧ ♥ ♡ ♢ ♢ Buy Now ♔ ♕ ♚ ♛ ⚜” “Tired of shitty cell service? Switch to a provider with better coverage.” “Get the best f*&%ing tshirts here." 5. Your Ad is promoting personal health With personal health I mean an Ad with "before and after" images, promising unrealistic weight loss results. More so, if your Ad is written in a way that generates negative self perception to people with weight loss problems, your Ad will not go through.
6. Your Ad was discriminatory This is a big one. If your Ad in any way is targeting people based on their personal attributes such as race, ethnicity, color, national origin, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, family status, disability, medical or genetic condition, your Ad will not be approved. Be careful not use language that may discriminate certain people from your Ad. Eg you can't say "Meet other Christians" because this statement assumes you are a Christian and discriminating other religions. To get around this, if you are targeting a specific type of audience, you can use a client testimonial or client stories as your Ad. You can see that it is important to take time to plan and get content ( images/video and copy text) for your Ad. Take special attention to what you write and what you are promoting. Weapons, explosives and tobacco products and multi level marketing is also prohibited by Facebook. You can read more about Facebook Advertising Policy here As a business owner or marketer, it is important to know about what is allowed and what is not. Thank you for all the love you keep showing me. Please keep reading and sharing with your connections. |
